QP Gunports

You may know them as shooting ports, firing ports or gun ports, we call it the QP Gunport or QP^TM Gunport.

It provides a circular opening in a vehicle window or hull (or building window or wall) through which a gun can be aimed and fired from a protected position for self-defence purposes. A pivoting closure blocks and seals the port when not in use.

The attack face of the QP^TM gunport comprises high grade armour plate steel chosen to give optimum ballistic performance for the rating and application.

The design complements the surrounding armour so that the full ballistic rating is maintained throughout the structure.

QP Product Range

The product range is broad due to the wide variety of application parameters:

• Thickness: QP^TM gunports are typically manufactured for window or hull thicknesses ranging from 16 to over 100 mm.
• Hole Size: The size of the round hole in the window, hull or wall commonly extends from 115 to 160 mm in diameter.
• Aperture size: The size of the aperture to accommodate the muzzle of a rifle or for viewing typically extends from 68 to 130 mm in diameter.
• Ballistic Rating: The ballistic protection level is specified according to needs – all the way from B4 to STANAG Level 3.
• Finish: See next section.

Sophisticated design capability and manufacturing flexibility enable QP^TM gunports to be produced in any combination of the above, whether within these ranges or beyond.

Finish

Standard finishes are eCoat epoxy or Kal-Gard® Gun-Kote, both offering a certified 1000 hour salt water resistance rating. Both in black. For a stand-alone, as-supplied finish Kal-Gard® Gun-Kote is highly recommended due to its hard wearing, abrasion resistant and self-lubricating properties.
